Keen to diversify our customer base through alternative industry opportunities, Airdex targeted the perishables/food market as an expansion platform. We saw this as an attractive next step from an understanding that these companies follow our general financial-based model. As we have developed strong relationships with key industry players over our 15 years of business we were eager to invest in opportunities to secure customers in this space, and we saw success in 2015, landing sales with the largest berry producer in the world. Building off this success, we hope to leverage the benefits of our products to increase our brand recognition and our customer base in this market segment.
Looking to expand, we analyzed the properties of the materials used in our pallets in relation to temperature control and vibration reduction. Through various scientific tests and visual trials, we demonstrated that Airdex products effectively reduced energy and transmitted only 40% of that of its wood competitors leading to 18% more sellable product at the end-point. In addition, relating our products to the thermal insulated properties of an ice chest (same materials), we can show how our products can protect yours from heat transfer throughout the supply chain.
With these added benefits, and in addition to air freight savings via weight reduction, we believe that there are multiple avenues for our perishable customers to increase the value of their product.
